Successful Climate March in the Netherlands

On Sunday 10th of March, 40.000 people joined the Climate March in Amsterdam, the Netherlands to ask for a fair climate policy and concrete solutions. It was the biggest climate protest ever in the Netherlands.

All Eyes on the Amazon partners Greenpeace and Hivos joined the Amazon block of the march. Preservation of the Amazon is absolutely vital in our fight against climate change. However nowadays we face increased exploitation and forest destruction, violation of indigenous land rights and even physical violence against Indigenous People in the Amazon rainforest.

The Netherlands is an important economic player in the Amazon rainforest. It is a big importer and exporter of commodities, like soy and meat, from the Amazon. The Dutch government and companies cooperate in big infrastructural projects that run right through the rainforest and indigenous land. This is why we asked for protection of the Amazon rainforest and forests in general.
