The second meeting of the new cycle of the Learing Community of the Program All Eyes on the Amazon (AEA) took place on Thursday January 20 at 09:00 am (Ecuador and Peru timezone). This meeting had the participation of local partners from Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru, as well as specialized partners from the AEA consortium.
During this meeting, the role AEA partner organizations may have on the implementation of the initiative “The Amazon for life: let’s protect the 80% of it by 2025” was identified. This initiative is promoted by the Coordinator of the Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA in Spanish) and it tries to respond to the climate planetary crisis by ensuring permanent protection of the 80% of the amazon by 2025.
The contributions and sugestions from this session will serve as input for theelaboration of a roadmap for the identification of the role of AEA and the expectations regarding the 80X25 initiative, including suggestions from partners and allies at operative and strategic stages for the 80X25 implementation, and defining a preliminary regional working agenda for the first semester of 2022.
