In the last episode of the series Solutions for the Amazon developed within the framework of the All Eyes on the Amazon (AEA) program, we present the Nuwas Forest initiative, a protected space conserved exclusively by women of the Awajún people in Peru.
Through the identification and planting of ancestral plants, the Awajún women have managed to rescue their forest and the ancestral knowledge of their people, despite challenges such as sexism and the pandemic.
They currently have a brand of herbal infusions and venture into community tourism to share their learnings on caring for nature and their culture.
